So You Think You Can Dance Little Girl Hairdo
Puffy Braid and Twist Braid
I saw this style on "So You Think You Can Dance" last season, and have been filing it away. This is a great one for your girls who have short hair, since you can modify the twist braid on the side into just another ponytail. Puffy braids are always super for short hair, especially since there's so much variety when doing them. (This also works great for long hair too!)
I started with a side part in the front to the crown, and then combed back the rest of her hair and clipped it off so it wouldn't get pulled in to any of the puffy braids. And of course, her hair is damp!
On the larger side of the part, I made two small ponytails, about an inch wide and deep.
The next section down, I made three ponytail sections, splitting the first two in half and joining them in the middle.
On the next row, I did two ponytails again, making the same size as the first row, and split the middle ponytail again and joined them.
Once I got to this point, I resprayed the hair remaining, prepping it for a twist braid. This is where you can rejoin the two ponytails into just one, if you have shorter hair to work with, or leave it. Do whatever you think looks best according to the hair you have left.
I decided to do a twist braid with the two remaining sections.
I round brushed the back of her hair.
We love this little girl hairdo!
Be sure to check back tomorrow! It's my day to be SITS!!! Hurray!!
Super cute. This would be great for growing out bangs!

Hello! Stopping by from SITS a little early. Hope you have a great day being featured blogger!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! I don't have kids yet of my own, but I wonder how hard it would be to give it a go on my own hair :) Sure wish my mom had step-by-step instructions like this when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteHow Awesome are those hair styles!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is 13 now and she has her own style and way of doing her hair. I wish I had known how to do those styles when she was little. She has the perfect hair to work with. Slightly wavy/curly, thick, beautiful red hair.
Congrats on your SITS day!! Your hairstyles are adorable, and your daughter is too!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your SITS day! When I was in high school on the drill team we all had to wear our hair french-braided for each game. There were 85 girls and 5 of us who could braid. I haven't braided hair again in a very long time...lol!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
OMG! I'm sooo glad I found you through SITS! I have 7 month old twin daughters and cannot wait until I can do this to their hair one day!!!
ReplyDeleteI just hope they'll be great little models like your daughter is and are patient while I do their hair each morning! She is adorable and has beautiful hair!!!
Awesome...wish I had girls to fix hair like that, sigh. Boys don't want you to mess with their hair.
ReplyDeleteIve always wanted to learn how to french braid. For some reason I just cant get it. These are fantastic dos.
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day!
Happy SITS Day. Seeing your cute styles makes me wish my daughter was little again, although she's a sophmore in college.

ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day, you are incredible...if only I had a small girl available ;)
ReplyDeleteWOW! Very pretty hairstyle for a young lady. Nice to see really cute and different styles instead of the plain old one and two ponytail most little girl wear. Great job! Happy SITS day as well!
ReplyDeleteWake up! quick - the SITS girls are already here!
ReplyDeleteJust what I needed - we are in full blown prep for my daughter's 1st holy communion in 2 weeks - your hairstyles are gorgeous and I think even a stumble thumbs like me could do it. Have fun today!

ReplyDeleteWow! These styles would work great for teens and tweens, too! Happy SITS day!
ReplyDeleteWow these are beautiful! Visiting from SITS
ReplyDeleteI'm becoming a fan on FB for when DD grows some more hair
WOW. I wish my girls would let me mess with their hair----or LEAVE the hair tie in that I put their hair up in.
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions on that?
Happy SITS day. Beautiful do's.
Happy SITS Day!
ReplyDeleteThese are great styles but my daughter would NEVER stand still this long, lol!
Enjoy your SITS day! This is a very unique site! Stop over for a visit sometime. I wish I would not have had curly hair growing up!
ReplyDelete- Cougs @ www.cougar-tales.blogspot.com
So cute...wish I had some girls so I could do these. Funny, my boys won't sit still long enough for me to braid their hair...so weird!!!

Oh, how ADORABLE! *flails!* When I was a kid, my mom used to LOVE to play with my hair, and I remember having a hairdo similar to this (although I was all about the loop-braid ponytails :D)... I hope I have a daughter some day so I can toy with her hair... <3
ReplyDeleteYour model is quite adorable as well. :)

Betty
Cute ides for hair. I always had a time with my girls' hair since it was curly and tangled so often. I will have to pass on your blog to my daughter for my granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteWhat a work of art!
ReplyDeleteSO cool! I love styling hair. When I was a kid my sister had one of those Barbie heads and I'd sit and do various hairstyles for hours.
ReplyDeleteOh, and happy SITS day!
Your blog is so great! You have such a talent for all these hair do's! So many times, things I try on my girls turn into a hair don't instead of a hair do! I can't wait to show my daughter your blog when she gets home from school! Have a great SITS day!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day! Love the cute hairstyles! I can't wait until my little girl is big enough to style her hair!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS... Happy FB Day to you!!!
ReplyDeleteI spent about 20 minutes looking at all the hairstyles... WOW is all i can say!!!! You have the PERFECT little model now don't ya? She is just adorable...
I don't have a little girl anymore, mine is now 16... don't think she is gonna let me try these out on her at this point and i am a little sad about that... she would look so cute... :-)
I am sure your little girl is the envy of many... Enjoy your day!
my girlies are going to be thrilled that i found this site!!
ReplyDeletewhat cool styles.
Happy SITS day!!! Love those hair styles!
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I have a son and I don't think he'd appreciate me trying this on him (nor would my husband), but when I have a girl...she's in so much trouble! Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day!
Happy SITS day! What a beautiful girl and her hair is also beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day! I wish I had your blog when my girlies were young!

I LOVE your site! I can't wait to show it to my daughter :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful SITS day!
What a fun blog! You do amazing styles! Happy SITS day!
ReplyDeleteI remember when both of my girls were younger. I loved fixing their hair. Now they are teenagers & won't let me touch their hair. (tears)
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day!
Happy SITS DAY! Love your blog! My little girl is only 7 months old and doesn't have much hair yet. When she gets some, I will be coming back to this site for some great hair ideas.

happy sits day, wish i had girls and not boys with buzz cuts, braids don't work so well for them :)
ReplyDeleteAw. What beautiful hair, and what a gorgeous child! Congrats on your SITS day!! You will love it!

www.5reasons2save.com
Congrats on being the FB! I can't wait till Toot has enough hair to do cute styles with! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day! Your site is wonderful, something different and the styles are lovely. I wish I was as creative, my daughter has curly, wispy hair that gets all tangled and knotted but won't let me touch it so the best we usually manage is some hair clips and I wish I could find some inexpensive but nice ones.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day and enjoy being Queen of SITS!
WOW! You are talented! I WISH I could do this with my girls! I might have to give it a try. Happy SITS day!
ReplyDeleteSo precious! I can't wait for my daughter's hair to grow out, so I can try these with her!! Hopefully she will be as cooperative as your girls!!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day!!
Awww. Unfortunately, I had two boys and never got to play with a daughter's hair. What a cutie there. And I love your hair styles. So cool. Happy SITS day!
ReplyDeleteThis is completely awesome!! Now I have a few ideas to do with my newly shortened hair. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day!
Happy SITS day. Wow. These hairstyles are incredible. I'm sending this link to my daughter-in-law. I can barely master a side part with bangs. My daughters are probably still traumatized by my attempts at pigtales!
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Day! These hairstyles are beautiful! It makes me sad that I only have a boy, you can't create those 'dos on short hair!
ReplyDeleteWow. I'm impressed! I loved having my mom braid my hair when I was little. I look forward to attempting to do the same for my girl(s) someday!
ReplyDeleteLove your hairstyles, happy sits day to you!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so, so, so happy I found you (through SITS, of course).
ReplyDeleteI have two girls who both love have their hair done, most of the time. The oldest one feels like she's getting a little too old for all the hairbows and froo-froos, so maybe I do this instead. Thankfully, the little one still wants to be a princess as much as possible.
I'm a follower now and happy SITS day!
Now, if only my daughter hadn't inherited my thin, slow-growing fly-away blond locks maybe I could be doing some of these darling doo's of yours! :-)
ReplyDeletehappy SITS -- I love the twist braid...
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting from SITS and am thrilled I found your site. I have two girls and I am forever trying to figure out how to fix their hair. This is great!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sits-day!! What a pretty model:) I'll be passing this blog on to a couple of friends of mine, with pretty models of their own:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Sits Day!
ReplyDeleteLove your hair ideas.
how do you get her to hold still for you to do it though? My daughters act like the mere act of brushing/combing their hair is torture.
Happy SITS day.
ReplyDeleteYou make it look so easy!
Now I need a little girl to do her hair. I think I know just the one too.
Thanks!!
Happy SITS Day! Very creative hairstyle!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Happy SITS day to you :)
ReplyDeleteCute blog! Happy SITS day!
ReplyDeleteAww - what a fun blog! And an adorable model :) Happy SITS day!

ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day!
Such adorable hairdo's for girls. Love them. I wish my little princess would jsut wear a hairbow. :(
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day!!!!!
So cute! I'd love to try this if my daughter can sit still for 2 minutes!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
How Fun and Girly! Happy SITS Day!
ReplyDeleteCute hairstyle! I could never be that patient, your little one is amazing for sitting still for so long! Maybe when I have a little girl she will be that patient. If it were me, I'd be getting fussy. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Sits day!
so cute! And it looks like something i could actually do !! I'm getting some of those little elastics on my next trip to Walmart!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. I feel silly for never having thought of a twist braid before.
ReplyDeletereminds me of my childhood! i was my moms model for her hair creations. cant wait to hve one of my own one day...i love all the fun styles you have!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I used to do something very similar to my little sister's hair, going back instead of to the side. I can't wait to have little girls (my little boy just wouldn't appreciate styles like this lol).
ReplyDeleteAwesome creation! I miss my daughters' childhood days. I loved their long hairs but I just did simple pig tails on them. Ribbons, yes! Happy SITS Day!
ReplyDeleteThey both have such a beautiful hair! I love all of the fun hairstyles you have for them :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, these are amazing. I could never encourage my daughter to cooperate when she was younger. But I'm so glad you've had better luck. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know that I've linked this tutorial to my blog. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI like this! I saw you on YouTube. Check mine out http://mylittlerascals-letty.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute. I always like braid and I used to braid my niece's hair for fun. I like this so much. Please share this hair style on Lifo. It's a fun site for girls that lets them share their beauty secrets and fashion ideas to others.
ReplyDelete
