This is a fun hairstyle especially for summer! This is a great dressed up hairstyle or one for everyday. My youngest always wants ‘just a ponytail’, so this keeps her happy with adding in some fun variety.
For this cute hairstyle you will need:
a handful of elastics
topsy tail
curling iron or wand if you want it curled
ponytail brush and comb to part hair
10-15 minutes
We hope you love this cute and fun hairdo and will give it a try! Post a pic of yours on IG and tag us using the hashtag #phifdutchbraidpony. We love seeing your work!

Happy New Year!! We have some super cute braid styles to ring in the new year! These two cute dutch braid styles are criss crossed and can be ended in two different ways. If you are in the mood for ponytails, we got ya covered………if you want an updo–check out the second version. Cetera does a great job making these styles look easy and adorable!
These braids are great for an experienced beginner, and work great for shoulder length or longer hair. You’ll need about 10-15 minutes for either hairstyle.
For both hairstyles you’ll need:
a comb to part with
a few scrunchies/elastics that can be taken out easily
elastics
bobby pins
Have a great week!!
Check out this super cute and EASY braid that we’ve recently come to love! If you are not a braid ninja, then whip out your Topsy Tail and get going on this cute braid. I love how it looks like a 4 strand braid, but waaaaay easier.
If you don’t own a Topsy Tail, or have never even heard of one, here ya go-
By the way……..this is a MUST if you LOVE doing hair on your daughter, yourself, your niece, your granddaughter. It’s a must even if you just like it a little bit. I use this ALL. THE. TIME. It’s a commonly heard phrase in my daughter’s bathroom……..”ok, where’s the topsy tail?!!” It’s second only to the brush and comb. It’s super useful and we use it even on the little quick ponytails, to wrap the hair around the elastic and just kick it up a notch. So go ahead, splurge and get yourself one. You’re welcome.
All you need for this braid is:
*5 minutes
*handful of elastics (only use the small rubbery kind, not the larger woven kind ).
*a small topsy tail brush/comb (see the link above to get one if you are missing this most valuable tool!)
I hope you try this braid out! It’s just so darn cute and so simple.
Happy Thanksgiving this week! I hope you get to spend it with those you love and are grateful to have in your life. Thanks for being a part of our lives!!
xoxo
I absolutely LOVE this braid!! Every single time we do it, someone asks HOW it is done…….and I love showing how easy it is!! If you can fishtail braid, you can do this box fishtail! It’s always nice to have an extra go-to style in your hairstyle arsenal, is it not? This is NOT any quicker (in fact a tad bit slower) than a regular fishtail, BUT if you have the time, then make it happen. This also makes a gorgeous bun- just wrap the braid around the ponytail base and pin it up with bobby pins!
We ALWAYS love to hear from you!! Follow us on IG and FB and show off YOUR cool hair!! xoxo
This little blue baby of mine is just about the cutest thing I’ve seen all year…….don’t know about you, but I could just look at those lashes all day! This is the third makeup tutorial we did in our 3 part series this Halloween season, and I just LOVE it so much!!
I’m thinking of framing these and putting them in place of their regular school pics…………what do you think? Ha ha ha. We had so much fun spending the day with Jen and watching her work her magic. This video is NOT hosted on our channel, but on Jen’s, but it’s posted down below. Check out her other crazy and awesome makeup transformations. You will spend like, ALL DAY, watching the fun. And then come back to us. Please. Just sayin………….
Thanks for stopping by!

Holy moly I love how our Halloween tutorials have turned out this year! We are so indebted to Jen and her crazy skills for the makeup tutorial–we had SUCH a great time putting all of these together! We hope you’ve been able to find some great Halloween costume ideas from our last THREE joint tutorials! Two on our channel, and one on Jen’s! Cruise over to Classy Cosmetics (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9lZq…) to see our Calais’ SALLY costume! Don’t miss Cetera’s amazing SCARECROW look from last week either!!
GALADRIEL COSTUME:
GALADRIEL HAIR:
I used a Conair waver to wave all her hair. One thing not shown in the video is I spray each layer with thermal protectant and hairspray. This helps give each section definition and smoothness. After I wave a section and it’s cooled, I gently pull the sections apart, but I do not brush through them.
Here’s our recent tutorial on how to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6rvSD9jNfg&t=95s

IT’S HALLOWEEN TIME! One of our fave times!! This year we have teamed up with the AMAZING makeup artist Jen from Classy Cosmetics (her channel link below!). She has transformed each of my girls (count ’em all three!) for their Halloween costume ideas.
For Cetera’s Scarecrow Halloween costume we used the following:
Plaid Shirt (Kohl’s)
Jeans with holes or rips — so great for tucking bits of hay into (Old Navy)
Floppy hat (compliments of Jenn)
Long socks
Ankle boots (Famous Footwear)
Raffia (craft store) – cut into small bunches and tucked in.
For her wristlets, we tied longer pieces of raffia around a ponytail and she wore them as bracelets
Jen names all the makeup she uses in the video. THANK YOU Jen for making our Scarecrow dreams come true! JEN’S CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/user/yt3880
Need some cute and QUICK and EASY hairstyle ideas for those early school mornings? I know we do. Especially when you share a bathroom, you need a hairstyle that is easy and fast, and will still be cute. Variety is everything right?
These are great for DADS that do their daughter’s hair too! All of these take 5 minutes or LESS! We all love ponytails and a cute half up hairstyle, but I know we just need a new way of doing it!
elastics
ponytails
bobby pins
We hope that you find at least one that you love and will use in your hairstyle arsenal for those early mornings!!
